Leon & Lulu is opening its doors to local artisans and offering them a convenient retail location to meet people interested in local crafts and artist work.
The inaugural Artists’ Market will occur at the store on Sunday, August 30 from 11am until 5pm and continue with a new set of artisans on Tuesday, September 1, from 3pm to 8pm.
The Artists’ Market will feature products which are similar to what makes Leon & Lulu an award-winning retailer - unique, fun, creative and full of personality. All items are made in either the USA or Canada and the actual artisan will be present at the Market alongside their creations.
“Exciting new product is the heart, soul and excitement of retail.” says Mary Liz Curtin, co-owner of Leon & Lulu. “My husband and I are thrilled to offer the space to artists and hope we help them meet new collectors and find a wider audience. We are also delighted to have all these new things for our customers to see!”
The Artists’ Market is part of Leon & Lulu’s ongoing effort to support the local community. Leon & Lulu and Mary Liz Curtin have won numerous awards including being named a Retail Star in 2008 and recently been nominated for their second Retail Excellence Award in the category of Event-based Community Service.
Mary Liz’ commitment to philanthropy and community service has found the perfect venue with Leon & Lulu. Several times a month, local charitable organizations can be found meeting and partying amidst the comfortable furniture and benefiting from a percentage of sales when their supporters shop at the store. Mary Liz is also the past Chair of Gift for Life, the gift and home industries fund-raising effort for HIV/AIDS services and research.
The Artists’ Market is open to the public on Sunday, August 30 from 11am until 5pm and will continue on Tuesday, September 1, from 3pm to 8pm. There will be refreshments and entertainment. There is no admission fee to exhibit or attend.
